It’s a smaller size inkwell, perfect for sitting on a desk and using for calligraphy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt comes in a gift bag and would be a great present.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe makers marks are on the side; it was made by Jones \u0026amp; Crompton and Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1910.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe inkwell is capstan shaped and made of Sterling Silver with a lovely lined rim and black base. The hinge for the lid works well and it lifts to show a plastic liner to hold ink.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Silver is shiny with a little tarnish and a number of dents to the lid and sides that can be seen in the photos. The lid doesn’t sit completely flush with the base.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt would be a great present for someone who enjoys calligraphy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is filled and it weighs 186g.
