It would have been used as a purse or case at dances and has a loop chatelaine chain to hold it by. It would make a fantastic unique gift and comes in a lovely presentation bag.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe case has a mini powder compact mirror and a shiny Sterling Silver exterior. The hinge and clasp work well and the lid lifts to show a beautiful gilded interior and the Hallmarks. On one side it has an elastic strap which would've been used to keep contents in place in the case.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe other side has a lovely round mirror and a compartment for loose powder. It also has a pretty little powder puff.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was made by James Clark \u0026amp; John Sewell and is Hallmarked for Chester 1917.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's in very good condition. The Silver is shiny with a little tarnish in the chain. The mirror has a few age marks but still provides a good reflection. There is a little powder residue in the puff and elastic strap.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt weighs 66.3g.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt measures 8.3cm by 4.2cm (3 1\/4 inches by 1 5\/8 inches).
