It comes in a presentation bag and would be a very special calligraphy gift or used as desk decor in an office.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt was made by Sanders and Mackenzie and it was Hallmarked in Birmingham in 1961. The makers mark and hallmarks are on the side of the inkwell near the base.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe inkwell is made of Sterling Silver and is capstan shaped. The hinge works well. The lid lifts to show a glass liner and a gilded interior to the lid.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt has a green felt base to protect the surfaces its placed on. It's in good condition with the silver shiny. It has the odd little bit of tarnish and a couple of small dints to the lid and the bottom edge.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's filled and weighs 300g. It measures 11.5cm diameter (4 1\/2 inches).
